COG segment LCD (Chip-on-Glass Segment Liquid Crystal Display) is a liquid crystal display technology that directly binds the driver chip (IC) to a glass substrate. It has the characteristics of high integration, light weight, low power consumption and low cost.
COGSegment display uses anisotropic conductive adhesive (ACF) to encapsulate the driver IC on the liquid crystal glass, and interconnect the IC conductive bumps with the ITO (indium tin oxide) conductive pads on the glass, thereby simplifying the module structure and reducing the thickness. Its core structure includes components such as liquid crystal glass, ITO circuit, electromagnetic shielding film and waterproof sealing ring. Some high-end models will also integrate LCD driver chips to improve response speed. COG binds IC to glass, while COB (Chip-on-Board) encapsulates IC on PCB. The former is lighter and thinner but has higher maintenance costs. The power connection of the product can be pins, conductive adhesive strips, FPC, and the shape of the pins can be customized, which can be used as a touch screen. The product material standards meet ROSH REACH requirements.
